The presentation is part of an article (bioethics and ecology). I examined three case studies to demonstrate our profound connection with nature, particularly for children and the younger generation. The case studies selected: The Sycamore Gap tree, Three Teens Killed and Ate a New York Village’s Beloved Swan and the manatee preservation project in Brazil, a marine species that, due to its size and appearance, is a victim of many acts of violence, despite being an incredibly gentle creature. They share that the Sycamore Gap tree, beloved Swan, and manatees only offered beauty to the world, yet the world hated them. These case studies prompted me to reflect on Pope Francis’ words, reminding us that our ‘flawed relationship with nature stems from a more profound, internal disconnect within ourselves.’ The idea is to open a conversation with the young generation about kindness towards our planet and all creatures of our planet, our typical home.
